can you use any long action or does it have to be a mag. action to build the edge off of

long action will work, but will have to open up bolt face to magnum. also to consider is the size and length of the barrel you plan on using... get over 32 inches with a heavy contour, and you may want to think about using a dedicated magnum action from Stiller, nesika, etc to support the extra weight at the lug. I've heard reports of very heavy and long barrels actually causing standard remmy actions to torq. And honestly, you really need a 32"bbl to take advantage of the edge's powder capacity.
