after shooting at a gallon jug at 1,100 yards with the 338 Lapua yesterday me and a buddy of mine decided my scope isnt level,,I borrowed my brothers Wheeler level kit, have two 4 foot levels and 4 1 inch bubbles,

I got the rifle perfect level on a rest and had levels all over the rifle and the scope, after doing this 3-4 times everything is level and locked down,,

but I be dang if it dont look crooked as all get out,,

it is taking me some getting used to using these .1 Mil Adjustments also,,at 1,100-1,200 yards one click is like 4 inches,,

move one click up and hit high, one click down and miss low,,but I think I found the real culprit, the recess for the recoil lug in the aluminum bedding block of the HS Precision stock was cut to big and the recoil lug was not making contact when the action is bolted down, there was some pretty bad rub marks where the action had been slipping back till the lug hit ,so I went outside the box and actually bedded the recoil lug with JB Weld,an Old High Power shooter turned me on how to do this probably 25 years ago and it really works

anyways everything should be cured and all the loctite dried up about 430 and I am gonna try it sometime before dark,
with the groups I was getting at range I have high hopes of things to come with the recoil lug taking the force of the recoil of a 250 gr bullet and almost 100 grs of powder, instead of the barreled action sliding around back and forth every how far the boltholes are big around..

hopefully pictures of some groups at 500 yards tonight,if not tomorrow morning for sure..

Yep looks like a heck of a contraption when im mounting a scope.
Levels everywhere n plumb bob off in the distance.

I did get to check my base zero at 300 yards and shot two three shot groups with the 250 SMK,first was a little low right and made one adjustment and was dead on at 300 holding 1.25 inch groups,,before the bedding it would just barely hold MOA,it is way less than half that after fitting the recoil lug to the stock,,
