Whats everyone's favorite load for 308. I just bought a Remington model seven looking for good load

They're not usually too hard to find a good load for. I like 165s and a max charge of Varget. If you don't want a max charge then try H4895 (it may also do well at maximum). Other good powders include Tac, RL15, I4064, I4895, and quite a few others.

I like the Nosler 165/168 BT behind 44 g of Varget for hunting, but there are many combos that work well. For target work Sierra match kings, 168, 169 (seems to be the new preferred) and 175 (11 twist or faster) are [relatively] inexpensive and shoot small behind Varget, 4064 (everyone is out of stock), the 4895s, TAC, RL15, N135/N140 8208, etc.

We have two 308's.
Bolt gun is a T/C Venture 5R rifling 22 inch barrel. Vortex glass
After many futile attempts this site pointed me at Varget. Our load:
R-P brass
150 gr Nosler Accubond
44.5 gr Varget
Federal 210M
COAL is 2.820

A bit of research will show this bullet has a sweet FPS spot with almost any powder. Take a gander at Nosler's data you'll see what I mean.

Other 308 is a semi-auto SCAR. It does not seem to care what you shoot.

My most accurate ladder on my heavy gun has been 45.5gr IMR4895 at 2.800 COAL, fed 210m, 168gr Sierra mk

I haven't worked one up for my custom model seven yet

I've killed a bunch of deer with 47.5 and 48.0 gr. Win. 748. Topped with Hornady 150 gr. A good target load for me is Sierra 168 gr. and 39.5 gr. IMR 3031.

It's pretty accurate out of my Remington 40x. That's the only .308 I have now. Used to have another one I hunted with a lot. I rebarreled it to another caliber

IMR 4064 has proven itself to be my #1 powder choice for my .308 Winchester loads - regardless of bullet weight.
The attached target demonstrates why that powder is my #1 pick. The ammo used on this target was loaded 10 years ago and somehow "got misplaced" in the back of my .308 ammo storage area. This particular load has produced sub-MOA groups out to 500 yds.

I load for two Remington 700's. The attached target demonstrates my choice.

I've tried different "ball powders" (WW748, BL-C2, AA 2520, & Shooter's World Tactical Rifle) and extruded powders (IMR 3031, AA 4064, Varget, both IMR & H 4895) for 150, 165, 168, 172, & 175 gr. bullets and keep coming back to IMR 4064. Varget was close, but IMR 4064 continues to be "the one" that my rifles like the best and I've stopped "experimenting" with other powders for my .308's. I have a good supply - no further experimentation is required.

IMR 4064 has been scarce for the past couple (3 or 4?) years and AA 4064 also. Those two powders are close in burning rates and give similar results in my rifles. If you can't find either one, I'd suggest either Varget or SW Tactical Rifle or WW 748.

Varget and 4895 have become the stuff of eldritch myth and legend around my area. Been making do with H380 but I'm not too impressed with it.

I tried IMR4064 with fair results but not close enough to carry into the field. The Venture had a little bit of room for adjusting seating depth (not like my 700) and it has a 22 inch barrel with 5R rifling. Varget was an instant solution.
