It's been a roller coaster past two weeks. Two weeks ago my dad tested positive. I immediately was tested as we had been hunting together. I also tested positive as did my wife and 16 yr old daughter. Our symptoms were relatively minor, but my dad had to be hospitalized. Thank the Lord he improved to the point of being discharged yesterday. He's still very weak but I hope to be able to get him out for at least one more hunt before it ends.

I had hunted a few times, but I was also tired and my mind just wasn't in it, so I'd head in after a couple of hours.

As dad got to feeling better, he became a motivator to me. "You need to go so and so and give it a good try." That's what I needed to hear.

I heard a bird on the roost going nuts, but I was a ways away from him. In fact, I'm not sure it was the same one as this one had dropped off into a bottom and had gone silent.

I decided to set up and cool off a bit. I had yelped and cutt on my mouth call, and then proceeded to clean and run my 3 pot calls. I was greeted with silence each time.

I decided to wait 5 more minutes before moving on. At one point I thought I heard drumming, but that is one skill that I just do not have. It was at this point that I told myself it was kind of foolish to not have my mask on as I was sitting there. It wasn't 30 seconds until he gobbled at my 9:00.

I slowly turned my head right and got my mask and hat on, then slowly turned my head back left. I just knew he'd be standing there and was awaiting the "putt".

He was further out, and I watched him strut all the way in.

A light-weight 2 yr old, but he's just what I needed.

After getting my boot on his neck, I immediately called my dad. He was thrilled.

Thank you Lord!

Awesome! It's funny how you think of things like the mask just in the nick of time.
Glad you all are healthy and hope pops continues to improve.
