3" chamber vs 3.5"

Is it bad to use 2 3/4", 3" shells in a 3.5" chambered 12 gauge?

Nope. I pretty much only shoot 3" in my 3.5 browning. I have fired thousands of duck loads without any issues

No I shoot 2 3/4" shells out of my 835 all the time. It 3.5 chamber

Doesn't hurt it at all. Saves your shoulder as well.

Thanks, I don't want to shoot 3.5" shells, it just opens up more selection when looking at shotguns.

Some guns chambered in 3.5 may have a hard time cycling light 2 3/4" target loads.

And don't forget you might not get as good of a pattern out of a 3.5" as a 3" if shooting 2.75 shells.

Bird shot wouid be ok, but if you are talking about a rifled slug barrel, I would not shoot a 2.75" slug in a 3.5" chamber. That's too much free bore before it engages rifling.

I like to have 3.5" capability but man they are unpleasant to shoot.

No issue w shooting 2.75 or 3 in a 3.5 chamber at all!!
