It's been about 30 days since I saw serious chasing and tending in Williamson Cty. I hope the cold weather increases day time activity this week. Is anybody seeing any 2nd rut activity?

Yeah saw a good buck standing over a bedded doe behind my daughters day care last Friday. She goes to that Goddard school at the corner of moores lane and Franklin rd.

How good was he? I have land right behind there. I've been after this buck I have seen twice (chasing does earlier in the season) and gotten several trail cam pics of him. I have not seen him in a while, probably 3 weeks. Interested to see if that was him?

On my way home from work today I was sitting in school traffic at Heritage Elementry on Columbia HWY and saw this dude come running a doe out in the field sniffing her out then went to browsing. I took these through my binoculars but he looked like a good solid 10 maybe 11 or 12. his left side was holding 6 long tines for sure.

After he ran his nose up the does butt he must have gotten hungry. :)

my goodness what a deer. I'm only seeing does grouped back up while driving home from work but still think I'll give it a go in the morning.

worked in Franklin for 8 years - saw some great bucks in Franklin city limits

I have trail cam pics of that deer from the last 2 years. He is just a 4 year old.
Hes a stud. I live about a mile or so from there and go through pretty regular. I thought that back in August I had seen most of the bigguns in velvet there but not him. Its one of those spots that has always been a good producer as long as I can remember. Even as a kid me and dad would drive past that field in the summer to look at deer.

I didn't think he would be out during daylight anymore this year. I have a stand about 400 yards from where he is in the picture. He should make the record books next year. Hopefully no morons will be out trying to shoot him from the road. There have been issues with people spotlighting from the school, but the cops patrol it heavily now.

I hear ya on the Morons thing! Ive got one that has been eluding me as well along a busy road around the county and hes been dumb and doing the same thing I saw this one do today. Ive been worried sick about the same thing happening. It may have happened but all I can do is hope for the best. Dawson, I hope you get him and if it makes you feel better, he disappeared into the thicket and hopefully towards your spot within a couple minutes after he ran out. Good Luck!

Thanks! I hunt the property on the back of that thicket. It joins our property. You would be amazed at the amount of deer that bed down in that cedar thicket around that park. The great thing is my woods has the only osk trees in the area. Good luck to you as well. Just found out you used to be a neighbor of a guy that works for me.

And I believe I know who your speaking of. I thought he could hunt there and immediately sent him a message. I sure hope your able to make it happen, you're in one of those prime spots that produces! Last year a fella that lives up the dead end road killed two awesome deer, i hope it's your turn. Sounds like you got things in order there. I'd love to see a Trailcam pic or two of him. I thought I was chasing a dandy till I saw him yesterday!
