.284 Winchester

Were fixin to reload bullets for a .284 winchester. Anybody have any experience with these? Tips? Reloading them with RL-15 and Nosler Ballistic tip 150 gr. bullets. Winchester Primers
 
I'd go a little heavier in the Ballistic Tip. My son shoots a .308 WIN with 150 gr BT, and on very close range (less than 25 yards) he gets no or very small exits holes due to bullet breakup. This has happended for him twice in 5 years, and it happened to my 270 WIN with 130 gr BT. I do love how they fly, and how they perform on shots beyond bow range.

I'd use the Accubond if you can afford a little more jingle. Or BT in the next heavier weight.
 
Scratch that. I forgot you said .284. The 150 gr may be enought sectional density to work OK. ccubonds would be better, though.

I almost bought a really nice Browning A-Bolt Medalion in .284 about 12 years ago, and let it pass because I wasn't reloading yet. Man, I wish I had bought it.

Yeah.. I love a .284. My dad had it handed to him from his granddad( my great grand dad). Its a winchester model 88 in MINT condition. Right now we have a box of 150 grain winchester soft points.Found them in Mississippi at a place called Vans. They group decent. This will be my first time ever experimenting with ballistic tips. We already bought them now and I'll let you know what the results are. If they turn out negative I'll try the accubond ;) In your opinion...will the rl-15 be a good powder for this load.

Do you know where the Browning is by any chance ?
