Does anyone here have any Federal Vital shok with the Barnes TSX? I hate to start from scratch and work up a new load when my gun is a tack driver with these. If no one has any , does anyone have an idea on where to find discontinued federal ammo?

Discontinued so you are going to have a problem, I cannot find it anywhere.

Time to look for a viable alternative.

In our T/C Venture 280 we shoot 140 Accubonds over Nosler Book Max load IMR4350. You should try them, they work really well.
 
Thanks for the reply everyone! I will post on 24hr and see what happens. I have a feeling I will be working up a new load. 4350 will be my starting place as I have several pounds I use for my .257 and .270.
 
this might help. I had about 30 separate 5-round loads worked up. When I shot this group I stopped testing. COAL was 3.360 with 140 grain Accubonds. Very accurate
 
Wow! Thanks for sharing Dave! I will give it a whirl! How do you like the Accubonds on Deer?
 
So far, every deer shot has died and been recovered. Distances from 12 steps to 135, all thru and thru. I'll post up some pics. Deer that went the longest took a 150 grain at 3,000 FPS at 12 steps straight thru both lungs and left a blood trail that looked faked there was so much blood. That deer died leaning against a cedar tree according to the blood evidence.

this one went 35 yards and died with its feet under it.


This one never moved a whisker. You can see where the bullet hit-the spine was in two pieces. The energy caused the spine to separate. Deer was dead on its feet.
 
I shot DAs 120 NBT load this past season. I shot 3 deer with the load 2 died in their tracks and one went about 10 yards. Don't know what it is about that little bullet shot from a 280 but it is like poison.
