I have a friend who is wanting to be able to reload for his .270...so what powder is recommended, or have any of you used, that works well for the .270?

I use H-4831sc, but I have had success with RL-22 and IMR-4350 also.

The upper end of IMR4350 and a 130gr Nosler BT produces great groups. Check Nosler's recommended loads on their site.

this is all i use in a 270.

IMR 4350, and Ballistic Silvertips, 150 grain, produces nearly 1/2" groups out of my Model 70.

But that's my gun.
He definitely needs to try different powder/bullet combos and find what works best in his particular rifle.

RL17 is the cats meow! I've tried the rest and have found this powder to be the most consistent and excellent fps at 3200+ fps for a 130 gr SGK and Interbond.

I tried Johnson's baby powder, but I had ignition problems, I think its temp sensitive. So I went to imr 4350

Ok, thanks for the advice guys, just looking to help my buddy get started and wanted to hear your experience on it. Thanks a bunch!

Been using this combo for years. 130 gr Sierra Game King or Hornady SST also work great with that powder.

Do any of you guys know of a place to get some IMR 4350 powder? Most of the places I've ordered from in the past are sold out or backordered.

Same goes for the bullets themselves to reload with.

I've got plenty of bullets and at least a couple pounds of powder. What do you need? I could part with some.

Sportsmans Warehouse in Chattanooga had plently of IMR4350, lots of different bullets also on Wednesday.
Also had lots of other powders.
Lots of everything except Varget powder and .22.

I was going to try a run of some 130 grn Nosler bullets. We've only shot Sierra, Hornady, and Speed...settled on the Sierra. But I'm always wanting to play around with different combos. Seems like I might have tried the 4350 before and didn't like it but I can't remember. If it was like pencil lead and touchy, I've tried it before.

My 270 shoots Sierra Game King 130 grain to the same exact point of aim as Nosler BT 130 grain with IMR 4350. So I shoot the cheaper Game King in practice and use the Nosler on game. Lots of people complain of meat waste and explosive blow-ups with the BT, but I've killed more of my deer with this bullet than any other, and I haven't experienced this. I aim for the ribs behind the shoulder and the deer just die.

This guy knows his stuff, I'd take his advice.
