Was reading where sales of the 6.5 Creedmore have risen above the legendary 270 Winchester .

Guess that puts the 3006 on the endangered list ?

Why would the sales of two smaller calibers effect the sales of the 06 ?

Sales of 300 blackout were also stratospheric at first but they have really quieted down.

I can see many reasons why the 6.5 sales are spiking:
1. Its new, I like new. How can a gun guy turn that down?
2. It is available for not much money and still great accuracy. How can a gun guy turn that down?
3. It has far less recoil that a 270. NO gun guy can turn that down. 270's kick.

First off, it's spelled creedmoor.

Secondly, it's not going to put the 30-06 out of business.

I own a 6.5 creedmoor, and well.......I love the gun. I only purchased it as Savage was giving volunteer hunter safety instructors here in Illinois a large discount on a new gun. I don't feel the 30 06 is going to be effected by it. al

30-06 isn't going anywhere, but I would say the 6.5 creedmoor has affected nearly all other cartridge sales. How many people going to buy their first rifle are being sold the 6.5 creedmoor because the guy behind the counter is pushing it as the newest greatest caliber in existence. Just look on Facebook, nearly All caliber specific questions are being compared to the creedmoor.

I still love my 30-06.... es. All of them. And my .270. I'd like another. I don't own a Creedmoor, but I'll admit that its a nifty little cartridge, although not magical as many believe and report. .270 still shoots flatter to all reasonable distances, and then some.

Glad all y'all don't want to cross over to the dark side I don't even have to aim mine I just shoot and any deer I see fall no matter the distance

Sorry I don't remember where I read it . The 3006 was my personal comment as the 270 seemed to be overtaking the 3006 in sales years ago .

6.5 is a good cartridge but check back in 100 years to see how it is doing against the old ought 6.

6.5 creed is probably going to be there with the 243 270 3006 these cartridges are solid regardless of popularity at any given moment

Those are interesting results.

I wonder if Gunbroker has numbers on calibers sold? I don't see it... just wondering is all.

Reason is Jack O'Connor used to kill everything that walked with a 270 and his position as an outdoor writer in Outdoor Life sold a bunch of that caliber.

I know my BIL bought a 270 for no other reason-blessed by O'Connor used to really be important.
