.257 Weatherby Mag

Man, this is one sick cartridge. Check out the ballistics on this caliber. Shoots flat out to 400 yards. The Weatherby Vanguard can be had for $400.00 in this caliber.

I know...I shoot a .257 WTHBY MAG in the Mark V ultra light...SS fluted barrel...Synthetic stock...Mine was around $1200...I love it...drives tacks...I want to find someone to reload for me...Is there anyone out there...I will buy all the dies...Just don't know anything about it...

Or you could get a 700 CDL, that would be much nicer. Would love to have one, I just have to many rifles as it is and what used to be my gun money is now being spent on wildlife habitat improvement lol

As you know it is a 7 mag shell necked down to a .25 cal bullet...It is great for deer...It loves neck shots at 250 yards...I mainly bow hunt but if I take a rifle I take my .257...It is truly great...No worries if you are worried about tearing up the deer...It is fast and has lots of power...If you look at the bullet its not much bigger than a .243...It just has spunk...

Just go with the 7mm mag with the same bullet, as you would in the .257 WBY Mag. 7mm mag ammo is a lot cheeper.

good round if you like to spend double on ammo. not the exact same case as the 7mm mag. both were based of the H&H but think of the 257 as being ackleyized with a double rounded shoulder. would be a good rifle to have out west deer or antelope hunting. very accurate cartridge for factory fodder, surprised me when i shot one years ago. but it does have quite a bit of muzzle jump. a friend of mine loves his, but he hates paying that much for ammo.

would agree with 8point, smaller weight barnes bullets in a 7mag would be close. and i think federal factory loads them in their premium line.

however
i can get 3600 fps 120nbt in my 7 SAUM

killed deer @ 35 and 50 yds all pass thru bullet didnt explode
nosler has a thicker jacket on the 120nbt than all other nbt

ditto, nosler toughened that particular bullet for silouhette(sp) shooters. good choice.

IMO the 25 cal shine best with 100 gr bullets,,the 110 AB in the Weatherby should be about good as it gets up hrough mule deer

What is not to love about the .257 Roy. Shoots nearly dead on out to 350yds when zeroed 2" high at 100yds and can handle anything from Elk to Whitetails. I have the Stainless Sub MOA Vanguard and love it. I shoot 100gr Barnes TSX with RL-22 right at 3600fps and that's with a 24" barrel. Did I mention they are very accurate and easy to load for;
