Flip a coin-practical performance is the same. The 6mm has slightly more case volume that will translate in 50-100fps more velocity probably. If you are a reloader and want something a bit different go with the 6mm. If you aren't a reloader go with the .243 as brass and ammo are much more common. I ain't a 6mm caliber fan anyway but I would like the 6mm Rem because it is a bit 'different' and I am a reloader. As with any caliber there are hardcore users on both sides that can tell you why one or the other is vastly superior. LOL PH

I like the longer neck onthe 6mm for reloading and with the 95-107 gr bullets it is more like 200 fps faster..

the 700 VLS I had would shoot the 70 NBT at 3625 fps through the same hole,and would push the 100 Hornady BTSP at 3250 with RL22.

with the 90 gr and up bullets I had to load single as with most calibers off the 7x57 case is just almost to long for a short action,,

I always thought a 22.250 was the flattest shooting gun there was until I read the ballistics on the 6mm.. I bought one 15 years ago and have used it ever since... I really love it and buy my ammo at walmart..

6mm Remmie if you reload. I get 3450fps with 85g TSX in mine.

The only over the counter 6mm Rem ammo I've seen, is 100g Core-lokts.

243AI is another way to go if you reload.
