243 on a 270

I saw a load today, a 270 win case necked down to a 243 with a 40 deg shoulder. I cannot remember if he called it a 243 firebird or bluebird. I wanted to shot it.

Ive heard of a 6mm-06, with the 40 degree shoulder I would assume its a 6mm-06 Ackley Improved. Layne Simpson writes for Shooting Times and often talks about the 6mm-06 being a perfect antelope cartridge.
