I just picked up a little Rem 700 youth rifle..243. It has a compact 20" barrel. In a given choice of powders, is it better to focus on faster powders..because of short barrel?

I use 4350 and 100 gr Nosler Partitions for my daughter's .243 Rem Model 770. Shoots MOA at 100 yds. I haven't tried anything else in it yet.

We have a Rem 700 ADL from 1980's. Killed a bunch of deer with it.

My Son killed his first deer with it....and the next two also....

95/100/gr partition. He was 11 and not too large just then

Here some more load info. For heavier bullets IMR7828 is very good.

If the partitions won't group, try the 95 grain ballistic tips, my model 7 loves them!

Well, I tried something different that I had on hand. All my books were saying I could get more speed with rl19, and I have plenty. Also had most of a box of 100g Norma Oryx. I can only shoot 75 yrds in my back yard, but at 42.5 grains and a .020 jump, I'm getting clover leafs. I'm guessing I'm around 2900fps. Either way, that's good enough for my intended use.
