243 deer round

Anyone have any experience with hornady American whitetail 100 gr interlock for the 243? Seem to have good reviews. Just looking to whack a deer or 2 with them. Local 243 selection seems pretty scarce. Had to go with what was available. Little rifle seems to shoot them ok.

Everything I've shot with them died and the bullet held up fine. Now I wouldn't be aiming shoulder on a big thick buck but behind shoulder is good

A friend used them last year. Decent buck around 165lbs at 20-25yds quartered to him. The bullet broke the onside shoulder and exited near the last rib. The buck made it around 40yds after the shot with a great blood trail.

Only a sample of one, but that one worked very good.

Interlocks are great bullets. Should do really well for you with proper placement

They used to call the interlock the poor man's premium bullet. It's not bonded but the interlock helps them to stay together. I wouldn't hesitate to use them if I had a gun that shot them well… which I do, but it's a .270 win. I will be using them this season in that rifle

A friend of mine shoots them and as killed several deer with them, as one member said the Interlock is not a bonded bullet, but as close to bonded as you will get.

I hand load 100 grain interlocks for my girls in 243. They do very well for them.

I handload 100 grain Sierra Pro Hunters in mine. Its performed very admirably for me on some tough angles and heavy muscle and bone.

I've got an older savage 110 243 that absolutely LOVES the 100gr hornady btsp's It's killed ALOT of deer. One being a 140" 8pt none traveled more then 60 yards. I wish I had stocked up on them when they were $20 a box but I'm pretty sure I have enough to last me the rest of my life

I shoot the same ammo out of my 243. The ammo actually came with the rifle and it shoots so well, I don't even bother reloading. I have shot 2 deer and 2 yotes with them and none left my sight.

Best reason to handload---you never run out of exactly what works in a particular rifle.

The 95's are indeed efficient on Mr. Deer. Its what we used when the 100 & 105 partitions went into low production. These fly same as a partition, we are charging the R-P brass with a max load of RL19. Interesting, there were 200 of these.....Oh well.

My Son's Model 7 243 will shoot them lights out at 100yds. One ragged hole is the norm for 3 shots.

I've got some 243 if you need them. Several years ago I was in WalMart getting some 100 gr 243. The gentleman working in sporting goods asked if I was varmit hunting. I told him I was deer hunting. He said " that won't kill a deer". I told him Ihad 4 in the freezer that would disagree with him.

I can vouch for this set up. I've shot 7 with and all went bang flop from 20yr da out to about 95yrds. Only have about 5 left but that should do me this season.

Our family has had good luck with that factory load in 243. I haven't loaded 243 in probably 10 years and last couple years used the Whitetail rounds in my Encore 243 and grandson's Weatherby. Both tackdrivers and all shots short runs and a couple 0 steps.

I've always shot Hornady Custom with the 100gr Interlocks and they are an excellent bullet for deer. Looks like the Custom 100gr is no longer offered, but specs of the American Whitetail seem to be the same.

I believe that's the bullet that Winchester uses in their Ballistic Silvertip. We shot these for several years and it's incredible how they destroy the innards on a deer.

I am a fan of the Federal 100g spbt , keeps over 1000lbs at 400y , lot of bang flops, the premium pass through bullets always got me runners, very accurate but not the violence I like to see in the heart and lung area.

Best bullet hands down. My 243 tiki lite is incredibly deadly and accurate. I won't shoot another gun.
