22-250, 22 inch barrel, 1:10 twist
223, 22 inch barrel, 1:8 twist

In your opinion, and what facts you have gathered, and any data you have seen, what your opinion between these 2 for a low cost varmint gun with 40 grain pills.
Note, I am a lefty, so no low cost option for us in my desired 204 Ruger.

I had a Ruger M77 22-250 that I coyote hunted with a couple of times a few years ago... While very accurate it was also very heavy for hunting on the go... If I'm moving around now I take my Ruger Mini 14 ... Ammo is way cheaper in 223 also

223 is for sure a plus with ammo cost in consideration.

I like the CZ, alot! Just more than I want to spend. I wanted a H&R handi grip 204 before they closed down, but never made it happen. And even now, not sure if I would be happy with a single shot when you can get a dang good bolt rifle now for same or slightly more.
 
The 22-250 is a super round but i would buy a .223 first if I didn't have one especially if just planning on shooting 40g bullets. .223 ammo will be much cheaper if you aren't a reloader too.
 
What rifle are you looking at that is .223 with 22" 8-twist barrel? That would make a nice predator rifle and should shoot the heavier bullets nice... 55gr - 77gr.

I would chose that over the 22-250. Ammo would be cheaper and also interchangeable with an AR. The -250 is a great round, but it's just more expensive and would become yet another caliber for me to keep an ammo supply for.

TN song dog, everything I have read says the 1:8 is suppose to be best of both worlds and should stabilize 40 to 80 grain easily. Some will say that it don't stabilize the 40, should start at 50 grain. Then, some say they have stability to 300 with the 40, most using V-max. But, I have to agree, for my purpose, I think the 223 will be more practical. Even over a 204 if it was available for us Lefty's.
