Not to burst any bubbles or try to cause any fights but I would not recomend game kings especially in a 223 hunting round. I had 2 bullet failures in one weekend last year with game kings out of my 300 win mag. I was shooting 180gr game kings at about 2900fps. I don't think they perform well at high velocities at close ranges. I think the faster the bullet is traveling when it hits the target, the more likely it is to explode on impact. I went to GA last febuary to go pig hunting. I made a perfect shoulder shot on a 150 lb boar the first afternoon and it got up and ran off. It was about a 75 yd shot. I found blood and bone but no pig. The next evening I shot about a 130 lb sow and fortunately I found her. It was about the same distance. I hit her right behind the shoulder. The entrance wound looked like an exit wound and there was no exit wound. The bullet obviously exploded on impact.

In my opinion based on my experience and what I have read about other peoples experiences, the faster the round, the more it needs to be a premium bullet. I now use nosler partitions. Hoepfully, I will have better luck with them. I will never hunt with game kings again.

My experience with game kings has been great. And in reality about the same as other cup core bullets. If you are going to push the speed up in a particular caliber, I would use the Hollow Point Game Kings if avialavable. The 65 grain 223 will be no different. And according to my experience it will even make it through one shoulder and quite possibly both shoulders.

70 gr bergers over 25.0gr varget at about 2800fps. Have gotten consistent golf-ball size exit holes past 100 yards. Less than 75yards the bullets don't typically exit.

I have seen quiet a few fall to the 55 gr Rem PSP bullet,,I expect no issues with the 65 Sierra,,but we will see

awesome.. looking back at your orginal post. The barrel length would have to be the difference. Mine was with a 16 inch barrel.

with RL 15 the 65 SGK is as accurate as any match bullet I have tried,,and with the extra speed I am not sure how far it would take for the 75 gr bullets to better it in the wind,,

I see more tests coming.

My daughter killed her first doe with the .223 55 barnes TSX. Although it did it's job, the deer ran over 100yrds with little blood trail, it disappeared and we had to track it.. I am looking for something that causes more explosive damage with pentration . What 55 gr. bullet did you use from Hornady???

Try Third Generation Shooter's Supply for reloading stuff. They have better prices and 4.95 flat rate shipping. Midway has gotten ridiculous on their shipping charges.

Mid South Shooters Supply has some good prices and if you are close you can pick up and avoid the Haz Mat fees. For me there is only one bullet for the .223 and deer. The 60 grain nosler partition is the best thing going. The performace fo a partion far exceeds anything you get out of a heavier bullet

I love the 53 gr tsx with H-4895.

Clean and accurate.

The 60 grain Nosler partitions are a superb round in my 22-250. I am using Superformance but this is not a recommended powder, it is filthy dirty. Can't go any higher in weight unless you have a 1/8 twist.
