I'm looking for a non heavy barrel 223 with a fast twist that stabilizes heavy bullet. Any suggestions?

The Ruger American 22" or 18" compact has an 8" twist. That's what I would get unless I was wanting a fancier rifle.

This will be my next purchase. But I may get another 22-250 since they have 1:10 twist barrel

the CZ 527 Varmint has a 9 twist and will drive nails,,the varmint barrel is about like a Rem Magnum Sporter,,

i almost bought the varmint but it was just too heavy for real world predator hunting situations. i would go with the 527 American. it has killed more yotes, bobcats, foxes, groundhogs, than i could count. i bought mine in the spring of 2003 and it has worked hard for me

unless CZ has changed the American it is 12 twist,,the Varmint is lighter than my Model 70 Featherweight 270 WSM

i know on AR's they say 7 is best for the heavier rounds so how do the 70g+ shoot in your bolt guns ? that what he asked and probably wants to kill a deer or 3 with it. my bushmaster has a 9 twist and will shoot 62g good but haven't tried any thing heavier

I really like the ruger American compact 223. I like the price even more. Now I'm not sure if it's gonna happen now. Found out last night we have major septic problems and its not just being full.

my 9 twist CZ V shoots the 69 SMK very well it shoots the Berger 70 VLD better but I dont shoot them much for price,,about 3 weeks ago JW hit the 800 yard 18 inch plate 7 times in a row with the 70 VLD,,,it shoots the 75 Hornady BTHP very well also and the 75 AMax if you load them single,,if loaded to mag length they wont shoot worth a crap,,

you wont need anything faster than 9 until you get in the 80 AMax and 77 SMK,,the 7`s are for the 80+ VLDs
