22 pistols and cheap ammo

I've seen this asked a few times here and there, so I just thought I would share my findings for anyone else who is curious.

I purchased a Browning Buckmark a few months ago. For the first 500 rounds I used nothing but CCI mini mag. I did not have even a single failure.

Today I decided to try some of the cheap stuff. I tried Remington 500 value pack and the Winchester 550. Neither would work. Both caused jams on 9 out of 10 shots. I was really surprised how bad it really was. I went back to the CCI mini mag and didn't have any failures.

Was really hoping to be able to shoot the cheap stuff after a decent "break in" period, but oh well....

Try the Federal bulk from Wal-Mart.Remington bulk pack sucks.

I have never had a jam with the federal ammo in my buckmark

CCI Standard Velocity and Aguila Subsonic run just fine in my Buckmark. A drop or 2 of oil in the slide helps as burnt powder begins to build up.

My Buckmark will jam with bulk packs from Remington, Winchester and Federal. The CCI Mini-Mags feed flawlessly. It's all I use in the Buckmark and my rifle.

I shoot the bulk Federal pack from walmart out of both of my 10/22's. I have never experienced a snap or a jam on them. Good bang for your buck.

You get what you pay for. Federal works ok in most semi autos but not all. For the life of me I cannot see how Remington and Winchester can sell their cheap stuff. They have both been crap for over forty years.

Federal Automatch is good cheap ammo,,it shoots well in my Ruger Mark III Standard,,it will hold close to MOA in my CZ rifles also,,it will have a flier at 100 ever so often,but that is where the high dollar ammo comes in,
