22 hornet

Nice little round that is economical to shoot. It is a reloader's cartridge for best results. Use small pistol primers and Lil Gun. Hopefully you have a faster twist than 1/16 which is what all the old Hornets used. Bullets weighing 45-46g, maybe 50g if you have a faster twist are about optimum. There are some 30 something grain bullets that will get more velocity. It is not as bone accurate as the other bigger .22 centerfires and brass is thin. Brass doesn't last for too many reloadings unless you have the K version. Good for coyotes to 200 or so I would say. PH

I want one in a Ruger #1. You can handload the hornet down to 22 LR or 22 Mag velocities, or load it hot with Lil Gun. It would make a great all around small game/varmint gun. You could carry different loads to cover alot of different situations.

I swapped for a savage model 24 that is a 20 gauge on the bottom and a 22 hornet on top. This is my second model 24. The other is a 30-30 over a 20 gauge. Any of you guys have one?
