22 hornet bullets...

Here is a question for some reloaders. I have a Ruger bolt 22 h. that I want my son to use this year. Ok.. I dont neer to hear any ethical opinions! I am an avid and educated hunter! The shot will be inside of 50 yards and on a small doe. I have som old winchester ammo. a 45 grn solid bullet.I like them. I can now only find ballistic or hollow point as they are now only considered a varmint rife. Can a 50 grn 22 cal bullet be loaded up for this gun to make it a little better.
Any help on this would be appreciated. THANKS

If I were going to use a Hornet for deer I would try the Barnes 45g TSX over 296 or Lil Gun. I don't know what the twist is in the Ruger-if it is 1-16 it may not stabilize the Barnes. Plateau Hunter
