@chris1976 now that is a velvet target!
I'm not sure his exact age but this is the 4th year of getting his picture and he hasn't changed much so I'm guessing he's at least 7 but possibly older. He disappears every year around the start of bow season and stays gone until the following year. Here he is 2023. What would yall guess as a score this year? I'm thinking he might get close to 140.

He might get up close to it. Certainly has the mass. I wouldn't care what he scores. Those old bruiser bucks with racks and heads that make their ears look small are what get me excited! Hopefully you get on him.

same situtation for me this year... cant seem to find the quality of buck that I have the past 4-5 years... im still looking daily for one though

Ditto. I'm not seeing much this year. It goes like that though. Every wave crashes eventually. Just gotta get back out & find another wave to ride. Ebbs & flows.

Well looking ahead one week in the weather forecast to next weeks hunt and IMO we are forecasted to have a "cool down" of 10-13 degrees and an east/north wind. While it may be nice to think about cooler temps when on stand from my experience this is the worst weather pattern you can get for a buck that's on his summer routine. Historically we have had a similar weather pattern half of the years they have put this hunt on at the end of august. The years this "cold front" has hit in The Weeknd of the hunt I have never seen my target buck while hunting. On the years it has been brutally hot and dry I have a 75% success rate in killing my target buck and a 100% success rate of laying eyes on him while hunting. It might be time to consider and alternate approach for the coming weather…good luck guys!

From my experience, except for a few "homesite" bucks, the deer we are seeing now , will not be the deer we sre hunting in late october through early december.
This. I run cameras in the summer but all my cameras go out middle September to end. Those are the deer you're actually going to hunt. Some stay from summer but a lot disperse.

3rd year chasing him, big woods, extreme terrain, no real pattern just comes through every once in a while randomly, don't care if it's the first day of velvet or last day in January, hes#1… several other bucks on camera this year id shoot, but definitely not tagging out this year unless I get him

That's a really wide deer. And old at that. Best of luck with him!
