The widget says 11 days until opener.

I don't have any specific plans this year. I'll probably just go sit the same hickory ridge I do most years. I may try to snag one of the leftover quota hunt permits and spend some time squirrel hunting a new area and learn it before the hunt. I guess we'll see.

I'll miss opener this year. I'll be at a TWRA face to face hunters safety course with my daughter. Worth mentioning, there are five Saturdays in August this year and someone chose squirrel opener, velvet hunt and free hunting day to have the one day course. Things that make you go hmmmmmm........... 😊
But, just think of all the good times that lay ahead for you and your new hunting buddy.

Fact! She wants to do face to face, which is my preference as well, and we are trying to avoid the multi-day evening classes during the school week (5:30 - 9PM). Thus, Saturday it is.

Hopefully it'll cool off some in the coming weeks..🤣🥴

My plan is to go early or late in the day.
With the leaves still hanging heavy, it'll be a challenge get a still shot..

I may have to break out the Ol smoothbore on em' until the trees shed some leaves..

Tuesday or Wednesday should be a good morning on the lake
I could possibly go Monday morning... daughter is off work. Problem is...she would want to go with me. I love for her to go with me, but that would leave no one to stay with the boy. I would take him ...but keeping him out of the poison ivy/oak would be impossible. Then...I would have to listen to the wife... 😂

I killed 10 this morning. Unfortunately one of them hung up in the fork of a limb on me and I didn't want to try and shoot him in half to get him down so I only brought out 9. Killed 9 of the 10 standing in a 5 foot circle. That was a first for me. Was in a big hurry to leave when I picked the last one up so I didn't take a good picture of them.

Slow morning for me. We killed 2 but had to walk a good loop to find them. Had my buddy's son with us again so was trying to get him on one. Could've killed 4 or 5 if not for that (not complaining) but it was super slow compared to the usual.

I'm getting over COVID and now the wife has it so if we have to stay home from church tomorrow I'll get out and try again tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about the Covid, I couldn't make it this morning thinking about going for a little while before church in the morning.
