This year's host sites include eight schools from the SEC in LSU, Texas, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Georgia and Tennessee. The other eight host sites include three teams from the ACC in Florida State, North Carolina and Clemson, two from the Big Ten in UCLA and Oregon (this is the first time the Big Ten has multiple regional hosts in the same season), and the final three are Coastal Carolina and Southern Miss from the Sun Belt and independent Oregon State.

Vols didn't save the ace and went with Liam Doyle. I can't think of a reason I'd save my best. My thought is win and play less games. Don't care who the competition is and especially in baseball. Small school beating a big school is fairly common.

you've gotta go 2-0 if you want to advance. overestimating opponents on game 1 isn't smart. these small schools that are in the regionals have enough arms and can win 1 game against anyone.

FL state saved their ace for tomorrow and won game 1. I think we are hoping to do the same, but I'm seeing a lot of sec schools go down today by trying that move.

I wish Tennessee would have saved Doyle for Saturday. Cincinnati will run all day on Philiips.

oregon state is on the other side of our regional and they lost game one. southern miss also a host lost game 1.

Oregon hosting and down 6-4 to Utah Valley heading to the top of the 9th. They just got screwed on a call at the plate resulting in the run taken off the board that would've made it 6-5, runner called out and ejected from the game and will miss tomorrow's game too. Took replay over 7 minutes and the announcers were talking about how the catcher was 2' in front of the plate without the ball and the runner started to slide before running over the catcher but not looking malicious. Replay said otherwise.

Oregon scores 1 in the bottom of the 9th but lost 6-5. That run taken off the board cost them extra innings with a chance to win. Utah Valley gets their first win ever in the tournament.

Pretty interesting 1st day of regionals. Sure hope the Vols have worked some kind of a plan to curtail stolen bases today.
