We set out for NW Colorado again to hunt 2nd rifle elk. We saw elk several days, but it was right before dark. We believe the full moon had them moving at night. This was confirmed by a trail camera that I put out on a pond we found.
My buddy shot a funky, half rack bull on day 2.
I had a bull in my scope on day 4 right at the end of legal shooting light, but I could not tell if he was legal or not. Had cows come by, but I did not have a cow tag this year.
I actually witnessed 2 different mule deer get poached from the road. Called the warden in hopes he would be able to catch them. He was worn out from all the calls of deer being poached this year.
Can't wait to go out west and hunt again next year. We're learning more and more each year. Absolutely love it out there!
