Just be prepared to not hunt at all most days or take areas that have been hunted to death and no one else wants( sometimes you can't get those). You only get drawn for one day at a time so if you live far away you need to realize that you may hunt Friday but will not know until 9pm central time Friday night if you get to hunt Saturday. If you are military or retired the odds are better but there are still lots of people trying for limited spots. It's just part of it. Now if you want to hunt doe only, you can probably get one of those areas. A man taking a vacation to hunt the Fort is probably taking a huge gamble .
The biggest thing with the Fort is you don't know if you will get to hunt or not . If you are a civilian go check out the deer hunting areas and capacity . Most areas only have 1 or 2 slots for civilian hunters. The biggest is 6 slots, keep in mind hundreds of people are all trying to get those at the same time. I just try to enjoy a day or two if I happen to get in that much in a whole season. Just remember, you may think your going to hunt but there is a good chance you may not get an area at all.
