Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Lots of scrapes and rubs have opened up in the last 72 hours. I saw 3 does out of 21 in the last 72 hours with dark brown tarsels, and there was a 3.5yo trailing (not pushing, chasing, or dogging, simply trailing ) a group of three does this morning. Action is going to be heating up on a daily basis here in Middle Tennessee

Buttons and fawns have separated. The doe I shot was by her self feeding, saw a nice large buck by himself. Saw another buck by himself. So the bachelor groups have separated.

Humphrey County.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Still about a month away where I hunt...still seeing bachelor groups.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Infamous October "lull" in Todd Co KY. Younger bucks coming moving with doe groups. Older deer have separated and starting to metamorphous. 15-20 days and they should be seeking pretty heavy. Since KY is opening its rifle this year on Nov 14 Im afraid gun hunters are gonna miss out on a lot of rutting activity.

Does it count if I am chasing my wife?

On a serious note....saw several 1.5 year old bucks with does, I assume siblings/mothers....yesterday and today.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Moved 5 cameras yesterday from salt to scrapes which had opened in the past few days. All are traditional scrape sites that are the first to show up each year. Wayne Co.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

From what you guys are seeing- does if follow the "theory" that the rut will be 2 wks early this year?

It's odd where I'm at.

I've still got does and bucks bunched up, for the most part, but I watched a decent 9 come out, he stayed 30 to 40 yards back, and tail a group of does. He wasn't interested in eating, either.

Then, the next day, see 3 bucks still in a bachelor group. I'll lose what little hair I have left trying to figure them out.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

I would think we are a few weeks out but seeing mixed signals. Over the weekend we saw a few groups of 1 to 3 does with no fawns in sight. I saw a lone button all by himself. Yet we saw 3 groups of bucks that are still together. 1 set was a group of 4 that were all 6's or smaller, one group was a 4, 6 and 9 and one group was two 8's, 9 & 10.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

I had a doe with fawns come in with a spike behind them... came out to the fields and had a buck pushing around 3 or 4 does.. brother had a 4 point with doe and her fawns

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Saw 3 mature does saturday morning all had yearlings with them.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

still seeing large groups of does with fawns in tow. did see a 1.5 year old 6 pt with a group of 4 really small does Sunday evening.

Rutherford Co.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Went Saturday morning. Watched 2 spikes fight and one of them chased a doe like it was full blown rut. Just playful I think but they were pretty serious. Tennessee City/Humphreys.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

McMinn Last Thursday I saw 3 small basket rack still running together walk by a group of 6 does with no interest. Sunday while watching 3 does feeding a 7pt walks 300yrds across a field like he's interested in them and they walk right by each other like humans just waving saying hello and he goes the way they came and the does go the other way, but 2 weeks ago one evening I called called a decent 8 in after seeing him go into a thicket to bed at lunch by grunting. Still think we're far off.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Saw a young buck messing around creating a scrape the other day, didn't look serious about it but cleared a spot, rubbed his forehead, licked the branch then peed and moved on.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Tipton Co where i am. Started seeing rubs and scrapes popping up daily. 2.5/3.5 yr old bucks still together, but i have a couple larger bucks on camera alone. Getting better by the day tho.

From what I've gathered over my experience is that the older bucks will bust up earlier than the younger bucks. But the younger bucks seem to have more rut like behavior earlier than the older bucks. To me this is a sign of there lack of experience in the breeding season. The older deer seem to be more cautious in pre rut and take close inventory of the does. Then when the conditions are right in the cycle they make there move. The younger bucks just say the heck with it and go straight in for the kil...LOL

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Normal behavior here with the does and fawns still together as well as some Bachelor groups. I expect any day the bucks to start breaking up and spending more time alone. Rubs starting to increase but still nothing really aggressive.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Saw alot of activity this weekend on my farm in Waverly Tn.

Seems like we are in the pre rut mode and it does seem we get hit a little earlier each year than some of the other counties in the state.

Saw several does and they were all by themselves. None seemed like they were in any hurry to go anywhere just grazing along.

Saw several buttons by themselves and they were just being stupid like always.

Saw a 4 pointer and a nice 8 pointer. Both by themselves at different times of the day. Both grazing and neither one seemed to be interested in grunt calls or Doe bleats .

Tried some ratting late in the PM on Sunday. Nothing. Nada.

I would say if these cooler temps hold out and we don't get a spike in temps like we have seen in the past we might be looking at a mid November rut in Humpreys county.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

still seeing tons of bucks walking together. my yard bucks are still buddies. watched a big buck at the corn pile the last 2 morning with does. 130" and still not a huge rut neck. 4 to 5 weeks to go here

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Saw a lot of Scrapes this weekend in Benton County.Didnt see much last year till the 1st of November.Gonna start early this year with the 4 back to back frost we just had.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

Saw a line of scrapes last weekend in Wilson Co. and saw 2 splattered on I40 Wilson Co. Start seeing dead deer on the roads, it's starting.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

I never get to see any of this stuff like most of you guys do. I did kill a 7 pt last year around the first of dec that was following a couple does. Don't know if it's our low deer density or what but I have never seen any chasing or grunting, they really don't rub or scrape much either.

Re: 2015/2016 Rut Report Thread*****************************

I haven't hunted but my trail cams showed three separate pairs of bucks locking horns and Saturday morning there was a nice 7 point chasing two does around in a field. Williamson county
