Great season, birds are dang unpredictable but there were enough dumb ones to let me tag out despite my terrible mess ups (missed twice with the gun and shot a rock with the bow). I got a bit more picky with my shots after missing twice, nothing new to me, I miss too much and have to slow down sometimes. But anyways...
I hunted mostly public land... went to a private Hickman co. property twice with no luck, and a member here offered to let me come hunt his place but he had to take a couple of rain checks and then I tagged out before I could go. Thanks again for the offer.
The birds behavior was weird. Some days I would be lucky to hear a gobble or two. One of those silent days, I stalked pretty close to a flock of hens in a thicket, because I could hear drumming. Never did see that gobbler. Some days, the birds would be fired up. When I killed #3, I called one and then two more gobblers right to me on top of a ridge. Called in several birds on the same ridge throughout the season. It kept producing. Anyway.....

Here are the 4 birds. All 2 year olds and weighing lighter than usual, but they have long beards and did what we all love turkeys to do. Only one did not come in strutting, that was the 4th and he came in running to my calls and was silent.
