Last Saturday I had occasion to enter my lease from the northern most boundary. I can only get there by crossing non-lease property-I have okay from the land owner to do so. What I saw made me determined to try and lease the corpporate-owned property that abuts my lease. Has anyone had any success gaining access to this type of land? I'm figuring Insurance, a legal document prepared by an actual lawyer, any other ideas? I plan on trying to get a FTF meeting with the owners because I need to sell myself as a responsible guy but not one with pockets full of gold.
 
Good luck with that. It's hard to gain access even with proof of insurance on a business owned piece of property. Most of the time they've had to stop it for everyone. So it's like "if I let you then I have to let everyone". I think it's a big liability issue and a way to just nip it in the bud so everyone's not asking to go and with the matters of having to deal with it. But if you had an inside connection that may help. At least that's what I've run into before. But heck give it a try, you never know.
 
I was on a lease several years ago and gained easement access from the landowner to the back of our property. Everyone knew a lot of deer were back there but if you tried getting there from our property you ran all the deer out. I was successful to successful. I killed 6 does and 2 bucks back there in that one season and the other members got so jealous the kicked me off the lease. My advice is if you are granted access KEEP IT TO YOURSELF WHAT YOU KILL. If hunting partners that you have known and hunted with your whole life can get jealous anybody can. It backfired on them when I told them they were no longer welcome to our farm in Iowa. Lost some friends but found better land.
