I am not going as I have a tournament here that weekend. However, I will be watching closely as I have a buddy from here that made it by winning the Weekend Series Championship. He won a BFL down there about this time last year so we will see what he can do this time around at the big show.
 
Ott DeFoe or Chris Lane are my picks. Wish Brandon Card had made it. He had some good tourneys last year... But a few that really sucked kept him out by a few points.

I'd love to fish with Chris Lane one day.

Ya maybe he will do good. I don't know him personally but know that he is good. That be awesome to see someone around here get in the big league. I reckon we are going for two days, I just hate that they are having the weigh in so far from the launch. But it will be fun to watch.
 
Got to have somewhere big enough to hold them... And with enough money to pull bass... Bass has gone downhill and is going to go further. They dropped the winners money by 200,000 this year... Opened it up to a team winner free ride... Dropped the money for places 40-50. The anglers are going to struggle more than they are now. It cost from $75,00-$115,000 each to fish for the year.

I'm not a fan of bass... But I like following the anglers. Wish they had a better option for the anglers.

i talked to him the other day at hurricane on the hill and he seemed excited, I would be to. He has done real good in the past down there. I hope he does good. I will be watching.

Yeah, I hope that he does good too. He won the BFL with 29 lbs down there last year about this time, however, that is the only time that he has done good down there in Feb. He found a spot late in the day during the BFL where he caught two 7 lbers. He fished that spot in Dec before the cut off and had 30 lbs. I hope that they are still there, and he can get there first on the first morning. He has a pretty decent boat number. I guess that we will see.

On a side note, do any good at the Hill?
 
I hope he does well I think he is boat #10 so maybe that will help him I'm going down that Friday probably stay all weekend

we only caught 6 Ky's about 20' deep. Had a couple more bites. All in same spot.
 
Will be there with my Son who is weighing in on the Classic stage as well! He and his partner are one of only 10 teams nationwide that qualified for the first ever Bassmaster Classic High School Exhibition Tourn!! The boys are really excited about spending 3 days with the pros and getting to be a part of the classic, as well as having a chance to be national champions themselves!
 
32 lbs won last Saturday on Guntersville. Somebody will catch them. I would never go watch, if I went I would be fishing.
 
They will do a live well check when they bring the boats out the water. If the fish are alive, that's all that matters to Bass. If they die later the angler isn't penalized. They do this when the cart the fish long distances like this.
 
Yeah then they probably throw the dead fish away. Instead of letting someone eat them. Probably not worth eating after riding in a live well full of chemicals for all day. They should go to a format like Major League Bass Fishing. Have a man in each boat weighing and recording the weight. Then throwing the fish back. Most of the big females will be full of eggs by then.

I would like that to but that aint happening they make most of their money at weigh ins.

Thanks guys, they are really starting to get fired up as its getting close now!!! I just hope the weather cooperates a lil more as those southern bass don't like the cold water at all!!!
BASS is going all out for these kids and are really making a big deal of it, credentialing each HS angler and boat captn just like the pros, with preferred seating for immediate family at weigh in and back stage passes for entire event!! The kids can go where even the press isn't allowed! Should be a GREAT trip regardless!
 
As for trailering these fish, heres how they handle it for the pros. They hire a pond management / stocking co. to handle all transport of fish. Each competitor checks his fish with BASS official once the boat is trailered, they verify #'s, length, and being alive, and they are transferred to a divided and numbered (each angler assigned a #) tank that has been filled with and is continually treated and oxygenated for the entire trip to and from weigh in. Last yr at the Classic on Grand they also trailered the fish 180 miles round trip each day and never lost a single fish! The fact that the classic is during cold water month of Feb is why they can do this and not endanger the fish too much. If it was a warm water tourn this would likely not work nearly as well, although they routinely do this to some extent year round at the big tournaments! Its all about the money being given from each town to host the Tourn and reap the benefits of all the money spent with that town from the Anglers/spectators!
