Are you planning on hunting mallards close range or divers 40-50 yd shots?

I shoot a modified choke all season long, but I've never gotten into any long-range bird hunting before. Some folks shoot only improved cylinder if they are in tight timber holes.
I'd rather be forced to aim a little better and still have the option for a slightly longer shot. That said, I'm basically a newbie duck hunter (only hunted for 2 seasons with any regularity).

Modified Carlsons choke wont do you wrong at all

I would go with a improved modified if Carlson makes one. Have one in 12gauge from them and it is perfect for pheasants/ducks.
