Saturday with the storms hitting here at daylight I didnt go til about 8 and stayed til two. Heard one bird gobble twice. Sunday I got on several birds gobbling called the first one and shot him at 6:30 - 20 lbs - 10 1/2 bead - 1 inch spurs . Monday - Heard one bird and worked him for an hour but he had hens and finally drifted off. Tuesday - Heard three gobbling this morning and the one i was calling too pitched out of the roost and flew 75 yards and landed within 10 feet of me but i couldnt see him because he landed below me. I cut at him real hard and he double gobbled and i heard pffft pffft behind me and i slowly eased around and shot the silent bird at thirty yards. 21 lbs - 9 inch beard - 15/16 spurs.
Been a good start. Now if i can finish strong.
Seems like alot people having success. Maybe the birds are on the rebound. Congrats too everyone who has scored.
