Well after killing an 8 pt last night my son wanted me to take him for a hunt this morning. We got into the blind right as the rain started again. Soon as it got light out we had one doe come out into the food plot and leave. Then saw another doe headed down the farm road away from us.
This was more action than I've seen for several weeks on our place (minus yesterday's buck!).
Meanwhile a 7 pt sneaks in and is farting around in the overgrown part of the field by the food plot. All we can see are his antlers. He then moved into the plot and went right to the gut pile that was still there from yesterday's 8 pt. My son was saying "shoot him Daddy!". That was all the encouragement I needed.
I got an easy broadside shot while he was sniffing the pile. He ran about 20 yards into the plot before piling up. Winchester .270 Whitetail extreme ammo did the job well. That's my third kill since switching to this ammo. This buck ran the furthest so far. The previous two kills were bang, flops. It's good stuff.
That's 2 bucks in a row, both in the rain. It was a blast to kill one with my son. Thank you Lord for good times and good memories made. First time to ever tag out too. It was a good weekend.
