2 buck limit didn't save these 2!

Lol my 7 year old boy was as happy as if they were 10 points.
And he still has his 2 state wide bucks to go. But I did learn a lesson next time I go with him on a juvi hunt I will have binoculars because I can't see crap with my eyes and he can't either with a no zoom red dot scope. And it didn't help with it just breaking daylight either. We both thought they were both doe. Luckily one had about 2 1/2 " spikes.
Some of you may be thinking about what these deer would look like In 4 years but they already looked great in my boys eyes.

Yep, just goes to show that there's plenty of opportunity to take more than 2 bucks without having a 3 buck statewide limit. Those that really want 3 or more bucks can make it happen legally if they put in the effort. Congrats!

When my son was 10 we had him set up with a Trijicon Relex red dot scope probably for the same reason you set your sons gun up with. Simple place the dot where you want to hit and pull the trigger. Does not get much easier than that. Plus it makes not having to search around a magnified reticle a chore for the little ones and no scope eye.

That did not last long with him as he found out pretty quick his limitations with the red dot scopes. One late evening he had a doe come in and could not shoot because he could not see her through the scope. When he could see her he said the dot completely covered her up. It can't remember the size of the dot but I think it was one of the smaller ones they offered. So when he was twelve we moved him up to a Leopold 1x75x6. He still hunts with that same set up today. Can't tell you how many deer he has killed with it. Good times for sure.


Enjoy these times with them. They don't last long.
