2 3/4 vs. 3 inch slugs

I just bought a 2nd Savage 220 off gunbroker. It is used but looks new.

This barrel is stamped 3" shells. My other is stamped 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells. I tried contacting Savage but gave up after 10minutes on hold.

I am fairly certain that it is okay to shoot the shorter rounds in the barrel???? Can I get this confirmed.

I shoot the Hornady light recoil with kids and have had good results so why change. The difference in the 3 vs 23/4 is 200 1600 and 1400 FPS.

Yes you can go down but not up.

You may get a crud ring in front of the2 3/4 that would make the3 inch sticky like shooting 44spl in a 44 mag but no real harm.

Yes you can shoot the 23/4 in the 3 inch.
