did you use a howling sequence or distress
My go to sequence usually goes something like this. I'll give a long howl and wait five to ten minutes, howl again and wait. After fifteen minutes I'll start in with some distress sounds be it a fawn, rabbit or a bird type sound. I'll do this maybe three or four sequences and if nothing shows I'll repeat the distress sounds except mix in some ki-yi's (yelps). I've had pretty good success useing this strategy. Be aware though, if I'm interested in a fox or cat I NEVER use any canine vocalizations. Cats don't seem to mind as much but I've never called a fox in after howling.
