We were up there turkey hunting this Spring and the owner's son was having a "team building" weekend with his boss and area employees. His boss turned out to be a hunter, asked us a lot of questions about the property. He struck me as the kind of guy who is really competitive with/threatened by other hunters. You know, the kind of guy who would get beside himself if someone kills a bigger der than him -saw the guy (son's boss) again a few weeks later. We were turkey hunting, he was fishing on the lease with his son (unaccompanied by the owner's son). He gave off a vibe of disdain and kind of acted like he was in charge of the property. Sort of talked down to us and acted he like he resented our presence. (usually, when I encounter people like this, I just kill them with kindess as its fairly amusing to watch someone be an utter prick who you are being especially nice to).

We suspect the son's boss strong armed his way onto the property. There is really no other explanation after a 13 year relationship as it is very sudden and unexpected. We did get our money back. I ain't crying over it, in fact, I think its kind of funny: Obtained and kicked off a lease in the same day -might be a new record.

-place was great, though. Even came with a bunkhouse, kitchen, and shower.

I hate to hear that. Not all leases are that way. I am on one that has been in existence since Bowater started leasing their land back in the 1990's instead of selling permits. We currently lease 4800 acres of timber company land and have about 50 adult members.

Sorry to hear it. I know a few people like that. Sounds like the owner and his son have themselves a handful, now.

I got my 1st lease about a week ago in Sequatchie County and I sure hope I have better luck! I haven't met the other guys yet or even seen the property, but it was so conveniently located to my home base on Signal Mtn that I decided to take a chance on it sight unseen. So far the lease manager has been really nice and has even freshened a salt lick and bush hogged a field for me. I'm optimistic that it's going to work out good for my situation.

So what is Plan B? Public land and some private land invites?

Hate you lost it. Glad you didnt have many years tied into it tho or it would hurt more. Trust me lol.

I have been on 2 leases. The first one was in Williamson county. My dad and I got kicked off for killing a couple good bucks every year we were on it. The final straw was one morning my dad and I were leaving and the lease heads were at the gate. We had both killed 2 nice mature deer that morning sitting about 100 yards apart. They saw them on the trailer. Haven't heard a word from them to this day. That was 13 years ago.

The second we still lease to this day. There are 2 sections that make up about 400 acres. We basically just get this lease for a buffer for our private land. Mostly for bow hunting, then hunt the non-pressured deer on our land when muzzy starts. We are family friends with the owner. She leased it out from under us one year to some out of towners. They killed every deer they saw and left most all of them lay. The next year, it was ours again. She said she wouldn't ever do that again. That's just the world we live in. Sorry for the land loss, Poser.
