I bought a new coyote rifle a couple months ago, a Cooper in 17 Rem. I have to admit to being a little concerned with the little 25 gr pill having enough to knock a coyote down. Even though it's running at 3920fps. Well went out with a buddy this morning and called this one in. Pretty cool to watching the coyote drop in the scope when you hear the "thwap" of the bullet contacting him @ 120 yrds.

I was pretty surprised at the exit wound...about silver dollar sized. He did get up and run about 50 yrds we didn't see that because of the lay of the land. Called him in with the little enclosed reed call I made. (lower left in the 2nd pic) It's a Concinna burl barrel with a hippo ivory bead, and a buffalo horn mouth piece that has a warthog ivory insert. For those interested this was on private land, shortly after hay was cut.

Nice rifle Yotehntr-is it a repeater or single shot? It is hard to believe that he could make it 50 yards with a hole like that in that area. That is a nice looking lanyard of calls as always. I was out over a cut hayfield this am with my AR but didn't see anything. Way to go. PH

Thanks PH!... it's a single shot. It'll keep me honest for sure. It's unbelievable how tough they are, I caught one low in a "head on" shot and it tore his chest wide open once... ran 200+ yds... unbelievable.

My baby girl got married out your way last weekend. (Out short mtn road.) My dad did the services at the little Pres. church there.
