I bought a new coyote rifle a couple months ago, a Cooper in 17 Rem. I have to admit to being a little concerned with the little 25 gr pill having enough to knock a coyote down. Even though it's running at 3920fps.
Well went out with a buddy this morning and called this one in. Pretty cool to watching the coyote drop in the scope when you hear the "thwap" of the bullet contacting him @ 120 yrds.
I was pretty surprised at the exit wound...about silver dollar sized. He did get up and run about 50 yrds we didn't see that because of the lay of the land. Called him in with the little enclosed reed call I made. (lower left in the 2nd pic) It's a Concinna burl barrel with a hippo ivory bead, and a buffalo horn mouth piece that has a warthog ivory insert. For those interested this was on private land, shortly after hay was cut.
