thinkin serious about trading something for a High Wall ,,I want something different to play with,,from my studys it appears I can use a bunch of different cast boolits and the bbl on the new ones are made to take .375 H&H type bullets,,the 300 gr Sierra SBT at 2000 fps should hold up pretty good at range,if you can actually use them,

it seems the fun per shot would be = to a 30 round mag from an AR.not to mention they are beautiful

My brother has a Browning 1885 in 38-55 with a 30 inch barrel and he loves it. He says its the most accurae off hand shooter he has ever shot.

I own a Winchester 1894 in .38-55, I am the third owner of this fine weapon, I purchased it from the son of the original own about 12 yrs ago. The gentleman was in his late 80's and no longer hunted, it was the only gun he ever owned and it was given to him on his 16th birthday by his father, who purchased the gun new in Sept. of 1894.

I ran a history check on the weapon through the Wm.Cody archives and was informed it had been manufactured on Aug. 12th, 1894. The gentleman was asking $325.00 for it, I couldn't get the money out of my wallet fast enough.

Sorry for the late post on the pics, I got busy with the holidays and it slipped my mind.

Here is the 1894 Winchester .38-55 I picked up @ 12 yrs ago from the son of the original owner, bought new back then.

I have not yet taken a deer with it, but intend to in the future.

I know what you are saying, out of all the guns I own, the three that my great uncle gave/left to me are by far my most charished possessions.
