175gr Accubond LR

Wanting to start working with this bullet out of my 7mm Rem mag. Any favorite recipes out there? 24" barrel

Don't own a 7mag but thinking this could be a nice combination-like a 400 yard elk gun maybe. The rifle a Remmie?

You mean a 175 gr. AccuBond LR? They only make them in 150, 168 and 175 gr. for a 7mm.

For the heavies Retumbo, H1000 and 7828 will be worth trying, probably in that order. R22 and 25 would probably be worth considering too.

Yes, correct, heaviest you can go is 168 grain in Accubond LR for .284

i am a nosler fanatic i love them but i have heard that their BC numbers are bogus when it comes to the LRAB

i am partial to berger vld or hndy a max

my 7 saum loves the 168 bergers ( they do make a 180 berger vld) and the 162 a max

I bought some to play with in my "Long Range" 270 WSM in 150 gr. but got a little discouraged when I saw how soft/thin the jacket was at the nose. Light pressure with a collet puller is enough to deform them quite a bit

They may hold together and penetrate but if I was forced to shoot one close (<50 yrds) I'd say it'll be messy.

Hmmm....don't think I'll be picking up any of those LR if a collet did that damage.

I do have some of the Custom Competition HPBT in 308 I plan on using in my 300 WSM or 300 WinMag.

They haven't really been out long enough to see any field results. I won't be shooting at any critters with them any time soon. They do punch a nice round hole in paper though :grin:

Yes sorry mis-spoke; Haven't looked at them in a while. They are 175gr.

No its a Tikka m695 in a McMillan stock I bought from a member here. 1-9.5" twist I believe. Should stabilize the 175gr. Will see. Thanks for all the help. Brass in the tumbler.

I have a few a friend gave me to try. I have 7828, IMR 4831, RL22 and H1000 to push with. They'll have to work hard to beat the 160 accubond load I shoot. I'm wanting to try the 150 accubond lr also. Might try to pick up some retumbo and magpro fuel to try also.

Well I failed miserably today. Beautiful calm day at the range so I can't find anything to blame it on. My rifle with 1-9.5" twist may not favor the heavies. Pushed the 175s with H4831sc ...five different charges and sitting right on the lands. All 5 groups were equally bad from 1.5"-2". Don't know whether to keep going forward with these or back down to a lighter bullet. Frustrating...

Seat the bullet 10 thou deeper and try again. Gotta try a few things before you throw your hands up.

Yea rubberduck I know. Just started reloading not long ago so I'm still slow. I need a few things to speed my process. Gonna keep at it.

I would also try some different powders. RL22 works real good on 175's.
