After hours spent in the woods where I knew this guy was living he finally showed his face today! I hunted my way to my stand right at first light and pulled a card out of a trail cam overlooking the corner of a pond . Went to my tree and since the wind was not doing what It said , I just sat on the ground below my climber , which was already there, figuring I was gonna move locations if the wind didn't change. After looking through the trail cam pics, there he was , the first pic of stickers since mid October. He walked by the cam mid morning on the 10th so he was hopefully still hanging around! Started texting a buddy the news that he was still around and noticed a small buck about 100 yards away (hunting open hardwood rolling ridges). Grabbed my rattle bag and tickled it a little just to see his response but never got his attention. Went back to pondering thoughts about which way stickers was headed that day and where he had been and all sorts of other questions when I hear a vary faint grunt behind me uphill to my right.I turn and look and there he stands at 30 yards! He immediately sees me move and blows /whirls, and starts bouncing uphill, I grabbed my ml and jumped up and he stopped bouncing as was just kinda high stepping over the hill and stopped with just the top 1/3 of his body showing so I took the high shoulder route. When the smoke cleared I ran his direction to see which way he ran and there he layed! I am thinking this buck is 4.5 due to the neighbors having pics of him as a 10pt last year when he looked at least 3.5(they actually missed him and named him "Lucky") He has 15 pts of 1" or more and green grossed 152 2/8!
