Reese decided he wanted to cook dinner for the family last week. He spent a couple of days looking at recipes and settled on chicken fettuccine...Cajun for my wife and I, and Lemon Pepper for him and his sister.

I chopped up the Chicken, dumped the pasta when he told me to, and told him to use a thermometer to make sure the chicken was cooked thoroughly, but otherwise he did everything all by himself.
 
Dang thats awesome, maybe you can send Reese to soddy daisy, tn and get him to teach my wife how to cook it seems she has forgotten the trick to cooking and its been pizzas for a while
 
Awesome! My 7yr old is constantly wanting to "cook" for us, but it is usually toaster strudels or something that can be put in the microwave or a bowl of cereal... She won't be long before she is cooking for real. I'm real proud of her drive for responsibility

I grew up in a household that ate dinner in no less than 6 nights a week, ever since I could remember. I don't know what spurned my interest in cooking, but similar to your boy, I just opened up a cookbook and told mom I was going to cook dinner. I think I was about 12 or 13. After that, my involvement was encouraged at every opportunity. So far, TAFKAP Jr. is showing some good interest himself, at 4 years old.
