Redid the ole 10/22 to lighten it up. Opened the barrel channel for a 16.5" aluminum barrel and got the weight down to 5lbs,6 oz. Trigger job, action job both done, she's good to go.

Aluminum barrel??

How does it shoot...what kind of groups?

Did you bed any part of the barrel? With only one action screw, I would think it either needs support near the action, or a pressure pad out at the end. Not being a smartazz... serious questions. I'm working on a 10/22 myself...looking for what works.

It's a Tactical Solutions barrel,I dont even know if they are in business anymore, I got it about 20 years ago in a kit with trigger parts stuff and a plastic thumbhole stock. The stock was wayy heavier than the factory one so the reason for the change. The barrel is a hollow aluminum tube with a stainless steel liner barrel.
I shimmed the action so the front of the forend drags the dollar bill under the barrel.
I haven't shot it since I finished it last night but am gonna sight it in today.

With the old stock and Aguila subsonic 38grn it would shoot 1 ragged hole at 40 yards if there was no wind most times, the most accurate rifle Ive ever had.
I wanted it light for a squirrel dogging rifle, lotsa walking.

25 yds from a folding table and 5 gallon bucket to sit on, not the best rest. The circled one is 3 shots shooting at a bullet hole so 4 in that group for final scope adjustment.

I asked Mr. Graham maybe 70 years ago, why shoot the squirrels in the head.....

You have to shoot them in the head to save the meat.

When my Dad saw the 5 carcasses before I could say a word he said Mr. Graham gave you these.

Kill a bunch
