We battled the wind and froze ground yesterday morning in an effort to kill some west Tennessee swamp rabbits. We jumped a couple early that the dogs had a hard time with but brought a full circle for some poor shooting to leave empty handed. Hit another spot that didn't seem to hold the rabbits it normally does. We jumped a couple finishing on one. Went to our last spot where things looked up for a while as the ground started to thaw a little the dogs held a better track. Was a struggle from start to finish but that's hunting! I think we ended the day with 7 swampers, we lost another one that ran off in a deep ditch to the dogs. I think maybe they were all sitting in their hole with the heat running lol.

I'm with you. Saturday was tough for the dogs to smell. We didn't get started until around 11 after it quit snowing. It was probably an hour before we jumped the first rabbit but pretty solid after that. I was beginning to think that they were all sitting in holes. We ended up staying til dark and ended with 5 total.

Congrats,I went Saturday and it was a rough day, dogs had a hard time keeping scent in the morning, but by late afternoon they were burning them up.

I got today off thanks to some snow and living the life of a teacher, so I'm going to go for a couple hours this afternoon. Mostly just going to let the dogs stretch their legs and I believe any time you can hunt your dogs in "not ideal conditions" it only helps them in the long run.

You want to bring your dogs out to the Hatchie refuge (Brownsville) tomorrow?
We've already told some guys we would hunt their land along the Tennessee river tomorrow or that would be a plan. I will see what what we have lined up for next weekend if yall are good to go then?

Yeah, check in next week. Or maybe I'll head up that way (TN River) with BuckWild.

I've got permission to hunt several hundred acres next weekend up by Camden. They say nobody has ever hunted it and they see rabbits all the time. If yall want to try it let me or Poser know.
