‘Trophy Tree’

Broke down and bought something to display my Western skulls. Makes use of a corner and is something different that most everyone that has seen it in person really likes.

I'm sure some savy metal artist could make this or design it to better fit individual needs but I like the simplicity of this one.
Here is the cheapest place I could find to purchase one. Set up is simple and it would hold a lot of whitetails.

I like that. I was thinking about doing something similar, but decided to just take them to work and hang them in my office. I do have a corner that would look good in. Then I could hang my extra heads in the office and get them out of my basement restroom and garage.

It would be cool if you do it with a cedar log, strip the bark, and hang them on the stobs.

A "real" trophy has its place and would look great in a cabin. For my situation something 'classy' and clean, like this stand, works best and is wife approved.
A cleaned up cedar post with powder coated metal hangers would be a good blend of modern and natural, IMO.

If and when I do kill a elk I'm planning to skull it. Unless it's a giant, still though big dark antlers and skulls just look cool to me.
I've seen two nice bulls hanging on each side of a tree, they balanced each other out and looked great.

I saw this house/hut being built on some tv show "Off Grid"???? One of the builders had squirreled away some kind of wood and was skinning the bark. Underneath the skinned bark the wood was a weaved red and white. The places (knots) where limbs had started were black with rot so you have to grind cut chip those out but it dint seem all that difficult. They used these sticks/limbs/logs/ for various architectural enhancements in this cabin and I thought the effect as pretty doggone nice.

So what I am getting at is a skinned piece of cedar, the right piece of a cedar, would probably be a knockout. I'm thinking of a 12foot or so length with the mounts high enough up so no one would put out an eye or hang a hat and the cedar could have tiny cutouts for mmomento's, etc. Or even tiny cedar shelves artfully integrated into the main trunk. Picture a limb jutting out a few inches with the bottom round like a lib and the top flat like a shelf.

Juniper is beautiful wood, unless it's a Coues whitetail or Western big game, would kinda look odd with some whitetails. Regardless, it's beautiful wood.

Eastern red cedar is a juniper. It would go perfect with a middle TN buck for sure.
