If y'all have a sec, fill out this form to email our senators.

This is the beginning of allowing anglers to kill more sharks which have become a real problem for the fish I love most, Tarpon.

It's not uncommon to lose fish to sharks and it's happening more frequently each season.

If you kill a coyote to protect turkeys and deer, you'll happily support this!

And with a little "modification", we also need THIS!

Raptor depredation is a serious problem. Raptor-hunter interactions are not only frustrating—they are increasing.

Conservation measures taken over the past 20 years have resulted in some of the healthiest raptor populations seen in several decades. A consequence of this recovery has been the rapidly increasing interactions between wild turkey populations and other species with raptors.

The HAWKED Act will establish a task force of turkey managers and raptor experts responsible for addressing raptor depredation. This will be the first step in building our knowledge to improve management and mitigate raptor depredation nationally.

Yes I most definitely support it. Lost fish to them at Gulf Shores.
I'm surprised there are not most folks bit there, it's tough getting a fish netted from the pier there, then your not allowed to fish for them, a sore mouth might drive some of them away, I won't let the family swim there these days, the pool only when we were there last time, even knee deep can get ugly.

Done. They're way overpopulated here in SC. I've literally smacked them in the head with my paddle as I'm kayaking around the tidal creeks fishing for trout and reds. They will get that close to me without fear until they get a good head pop. But by then they've already spooked all the fish.

probably will have to be some middle ground in order not to end up like NC 30 years ago when white sharks were over killed.

looking at some research they may even need to limit fly and light tackle fishing.

do other states besides florida not have regulations on tarpon fishing? doesnt appear to be any federal refulations either?

The commercial shark fishery was regulated out of business.

Florida has the strictest regulations on tarpon and I wish other states would follow.

This isn't really about tarpon though. It just happens to be the reason I care about it.

Reef fish, pelagics, flats fishing, etc. they are all having more shark encounters.

I don't think limiting fishing tackle is the answer as many heavy tackle anglers experience the same thing.

Sharks have gotten crazy all over. Fishing LA last year after catching 3 red snapper the sharks moved in and ate almost every fish we hooked. Baited up and caught a 5'7" black tip that went into the fish box. Caught one more snapper then sharked up again. Hooked and fought a 6-7' shark to the leader. Next drop....sharked again. So we moved spots. Same thing. catch one or two and then fed the sharks.

Inshore fishing was better, but we did loose 2 bull reds to sharks fishing the jetty, and one to a 11' gator fishing inshore.

IF you want to see something crazy google "new Smyrna beach Florida shark drone" I used to surf there and it was sharky in the 80's. Its absolutely nuts now.

Glock 'em!!

Seriously, what would be the best way to kill them at a boat?
A bang stick would be easy enough.

What we did when my buddy was chasing the world record hammer was to gaff the fish with a flying gaff and then get a tail rope on the fish. Once the tail rope is on, drag the fish backwards and it's dead in just a couple minutes.
