Stumbled upon this beautiful call at a garage sale this morning. Had no background on it when I bought it, but could tell it was well made. Did a little research when I got home and seems like Mr. Camp was pretty well renowned. Does anyone have any idea on the value of one of these? I don't plan on selling but was just curious. It's in perfect condition and sounds amazing. Doesn't look like it ever saw time in the woods. Thanks in advance.

I have some higher end box calls, actually I may have a problem with a slight addiction to turkey calls. I have some TJJohnson, Fetters, Fulkerson etc. And I have seen the call you have go for $200/250 or so.

I gave $40 for it. I figured that was more than fair. From the research I did, it sounds like Mr. Camp passed away from cancer in 2004. This call was made in 2003. Some were made after that, but by someone that worked for him or under him from my understanding.
That's a really cool find. Like others I'm not a box call user but that's a solid deal and a dang nice call

I've got a a camp slate call. Had it since 1992. It's a real killer. I have so many people ask me if I would sale it. Nope!
Not for sale. It plays super easy and is straight death for small talk. Pretty much use it and a mouth call 95% of the time.

Doug Camp is a turkey call maker from around Talledega or Sylacagua Alabama. He passed many years ago. Some of his friends or someone have his call business called "Camp Callers." They make a lot of old looking stuff. I haven't heard of them in a while but they very well could still be around.

Doug Camp was one of the original turkey hunters. Hunted the Talledega National Forest. They used Volkswagens as their cars driving the mountain roads.
He also has a book called "Turkey Hunting, Spring and Fall."
I never met the guy. But know several people that knew him.

That is a nice find. I would like to have it.

I texted a good friend of mine that grew up and has Turkey hunted in the TNF for decades and still lives in his home place with a view of Mt Cheeha that words can't describe. I'm guessing he knew him well. I'll see if he knows anything.

The TNF had turkeys before 99% of the south. I'm guessing the remoteness of that place years ago saved them there.

I bought two of those boxes from Doug back in the day at the NWTF conventions in Nashville. I always sought out his booth. He was a heckuva guy to talk to. I've seen these boxes as high as $275 on ebay. One awesome and interesting call I have is his old owl hooter that looks like a German potato masher grenade. It's on the shelf now.
