Personally, i use both a .22 rifle and a .22 pistol to dispatch depending on which vehicle im in when running trap lines. I prefer my scoped .22 rifle, as it is capable of shooting thumbtacks at 25y, but use my pistol when running traplines off the 4wheelerso what are you shooting the coons with? 22 rifle or hand gun? thanks.

This^. Relentless. There's a few of us out here trying to help the turkeys. I've been rough on the nest raiders and varmints last few years.
Mice are quite meticulous in doing this. This was verified by cameras over traps. Will try the chicken bone/corn combo.I use a piece of chicken bone and canned corn with excellent success. If you can, break the bone small enough so it'll sit under the trigger then put a little corn on top. i have yet to find a trap emptied of bait with this combo. If they work the trap, they're caught.
