I bought a couple used ones from a guy on Craigslist. I needed a couple more big reels to take surf fishing. I got them pretty cheap. For the price, I was well pleased. If I remember, I'll look at them this evening and give you more info.

I own a "couple". This pic is a couple of years old. i have a few more now. The casting reels are ok. They work but have had a few issues. I will most likely replace them with 9.1:1 ambassadeurs. I have about 30 of the "round" ambassadeurs, only reason I got the kastkings is for the retrieve, I prefer a fast retrieve reel, the faster the better. Especially for deep diving crankbaits which I throw a lot this time of the year.
The spinning reels are as good as any I have ever used and take abuse. Not one issue with them. All of the reels I have are fast retrieve. The spinning reels are 7.2:1 or 7.4:1. The drags on all of them are really good.

ive cleaned and repaired several models of the baitcasters. the higher priced models have shimano parts in them. to be honest, unless its a shimano, diawa, the swedish made abu's and the high end American made reels, the rest are made in two factories. one in china and one in korea.

Thanks guys I just bought there speed demon elite spinning reel in rhe 2000 size. I haven't got to fish with it but it feels good in the driveway. I'll put it to the test next week. It also the 7.4:1 ratio.

I have fished with most any spinning reel made, Zebco cardinal 4 being my favorite of all.
The Kastking spinning reels, I have nothing but the fast retrieve, are as good as any I have ever used, have great drags and for a couple years now, are holding up better than Daiwa, Shimano, Pflueger and Quantum (all of these 4 could not make it a spring without an issue when I am catching hybrids), I have been using some of the Kastking spinning reels for 3 springs now and not one issue with them.
The casting reels not so much.

Perhaps I shouldn't have chimed in here as my only direct experience was with their casting reels. Both of which stopped performing after a year of very light use (my pond fishing set up).
I did have a friend get a spinning reel that wasn't smooth at all and he sent it back. Which models have you used?

Speed demon elite I believe, they are the fastest retrieve Kastking makes.
i posted this in another thread but here it goes. most of these reel bearings, for some unknown reason, are dry out of the box. if you get one that doesnt feel smooth or trouble casting id bet one dollar that it is probably dry. ive seen shimanos and diawas as well that were dry out of the box(mostly thai and malaysia made).

I've never run one, but I have 8 of the Centron and 1 Summer. However they aren't used for casting. The 8 Centrons are on my trolling poles and the Summer is on one of my jig poles. For those applications it's just a line holder and my only requirement is a smooth drag. For a $21 reel the drag is pretty dang good.

I've had really good luck with Daiwas. I use the Fuegos on most my set up's but just picked up the Daiwa Regal ($60) to try. I also have several Pfluegers that are really solid.
