I made these about 30-35 years ago when I thought I was invincible and hunted out of a Loc-on Stand which was also before any of us had ever heard of a safety belt.....

I think there are about 36 of them of them taking up space in the attic.

The way they work is you screw a lag bolt into the tree and the steps are key-holed to fit over and slide down onto the lag bolts. I have a few dozen lag bolts that will come with them too.

Im sure these are not legal for public land, I always hunted private and removed all the lag bolts at the end of the year so it didn't matter.

Climbing trees is dangerous so if you take them, you assume all risks associated with their use.

Pick up only in Lakeland / Brunswick area.70B3411B-39FD-46A2-ABBE-BAECCAAD64CA.jpeg

I made some similar out of heavy duty angle iron . But like he said remove the bolts like a knuckle head I left mine in year round and one bolt broke with it sending me tumbling down. Would you know it was the top step as well. Believe the fall broke my ankle that year but never went the doctor . Rented some crutches from a drug store in Pulaski and hunted next day . Killed a six point too . Sucker hurt me off and on for several years .

Heck of an idea. Lot better idea than hammering railroad spikes in trees years ago like I used to. Would have saved me a lot of time and energy and probably trees.
I found an old cedar tree this year and the heads of several railroad spikes were just barely visible going up the tree....the guys at the sawmill will be really pissed when they find them one day.
